2020 All-day Sittings (Zazenkai)

For many years it hasn't been possible to include all-days in our jam-packed schedule. This year, with Roshi on sabbatical, there are fewer sesshins and therefore more free weekends, so that opens space for all-day sittings.

In Japan, all-days are called zazenkai and at some Zen centers, they are referred to as one-day sesshins. They are great way to dip your toes into advanced training in preparation for full-length sesshins.

The schedule is as follows:

8:00

Zazen with kinhin

10:00

Taped teisho

10:45

    Details

  • Like sesshins, all-day sittings are in silence.
  • While you may come for either the morning or evening portion, you are encouraged to attend the full day.
  • Lunch is soup, bread, and hummos. If you are gluten free, you are welcome to bring your own bread. The soup and hummos are vegan and gluten free.
  • There is a nominal fee whether you are coming full-time or part-time: $5 for members and trial members; $10 for non-members. If that is an obstacle to your attending, please let us know.
  • Please submit the registration form on this page so that we know how many to expect for the sitting and for lunch.
